Managing Director

Anukshika Liyanage

Anukshika Liyanage is a passionate dancer and a dedicated registered nurse who has seamlessly woven art and science into her life. Her love for dancing began in her early childhood, performing in school plays and stage productions starting in kindergarten. Over the years, this passion grew into a lifelong commitment to the art of dance.

Anukshika studied dance as a subject until Grade 10 under the guidance of Wineetha Dasanayaka. During Grades 11 and 12, she continued to take private lessons and further developed her skills in Kandyan dancing under Achala Fernando and Kamal Peiris. Anukshika’s versatility as a dancer was evident through her participation in various school events, where she performed traditional Sri Lankan dance styles, including Kandyan, Sabaragamuwa, and folk dance.

In 2000, as a member of the Narthani Dance Group, Anukshika led her team to victory, earning the All-Island First Place in the New Creation Dance category. She also served as the leader of the Saint Joseph’s College (Bandarawela) dance team, mentoring and inspiring her peers.

After moving to Canada in 2004, Anukshika continued her journey as a performer. In 2005, she showcased her talent in two solo performances at events hosted by the Sri Lankan Consulate in Canada. Despite balancing a full-time career, her passion for dance never wavered. Ten years later, she resumed formal training with Upekkha Gangodawila in Scarborough, Ontario.

For the past five years, Anukshika has been dancing under the guidance of her Canadian mentor, Mr. Nilantha Karunarathna. Together, they co-founded the Rhythmic Nertha Foundation in Pickering, Ontario, a platform dedicated to preserving and promoting Sri Lankan dance and culture in Canada.

Anukshika’s professional life is equally impressive. She is a registered nurse and is currently pursuing her Master of Science to become a Nurse Practitioner. Her commitment to excellence, both as a healthcare professional and as a dancer, reflects her dedication to improving lives and inspiring others through her work and art.

Whether on stage or in her profession, Anukshika continues to embody her motto: “Believe in yourself and never underestimate what you’re capable of.”
